What is genital herpes? Facts about HSV-2, causes and cure

Is having HSV 2 a big deal? It points to the medical reality of genital herpes: It is, for the vast majority of people, there is no big deal. Along with the 11.9 percent with HSV-2, 47.8 percent of Americans in the 14-to-49 age range carry HSV-1 or “oral herpes,” which normally causes cold sores around the mouth but it also can cause genital herpes. Is HSV 2 contagious? Persons with genital HSV infection should abstain from sexual activity whilst experiencing symptoms of genital herpes. HSV-2 is most contagious during an outbreak of swelling, but can also be transmitted when no symptoms are visible or felt. What does it mean to have HSV 2? HSV-1 can cause genital herpes, but remember in most cases of genital herpes are caused by herpes type 2. In HSV-2, the patient  may have sores around the genitals or rectum.
